I know I have been acting like it is autumn for weeks now, but today is the first official ay of Autumn. I think that is reason to celebrate a bit. I know that I am going to spend my entire evening on AutoCad, so this morning I am going thrifting followed by a pop into the farmers market for produce and white pumpkins. I know they probably won’t make it to Halloween, but I see it similar to fresh flowers- enjoy them while you can.
I am on the hunt to find a camel wool jacket similar to this one, and some skirts… and jeans. ALWAYS jeans. The Value Village in Richmond can sometimes be crazy for jeans. I’ve found Paige Premium and J Brand for under $15.
Last night I spent a couple hours combing a thrift shop. At one point, I was loaded down like a pack horse with designer jeans. I had J Brand, 7 for all mankind, Diesel… Blah blah blah. I ended up with a couple pairs of jeans, a cashmere sweater, silk blazer, linen scarf, Italian wool pencil skirt and a zipper dress.
I’ve been thinking a ton about that year (ok, 50 weeks- I caved on a pair of shoes) that I bought nothing new (except underwear and socks). I really fell in love with thrifting and discovered that thrift stores have some of the best clothing. PLUS it was so gentle on my wallet AND I felt like a hero for not contributing to the world’s waste.
So I think I’m avoiding malls again. Not that I shop much anyways.
I am down to my final handful of hours on my very last project. Tomorrow I hand everything in and start my winter break. While I will be working 5-6 nights a week at the restaurant (tuition has to come from somewhere)- I won’t have ANY homework. I have a bunch of clothing from thrift that needs some altering. I am so excited to get crafty and possibly read Grace Coddington’s memoir (the woman is a genius).
